People don't bother hiding things unless then know in their heart that they're wrong.

But personally, I think racism per se has been on the wane for a long time and continues to be. As I've said here many times, much of what is described as racism nowadays is really class and cultural bias, something which Obama, who speaks better English than most white people (myself included, I suspect), is not as likely to be troubled by.Larry Livermorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11948659387575597910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8774131.post-71046025610083896672008-01-07T01:07:00.000-05:002008-01-07T01:07:00.000-05:00Being a midwesterner myself, albeit from Wisconsin...Being a midwesterner myself, albeit from Wisconsin, I must also thank you. While racism isn't a thing of the past here, the problem tends to be that it is more hidden. People won't bash Obama to his face, but behind closed doors its a different matter. I still think though that people in the Midwest would elect a black candidate before a woman. The daily sexism here is a little more overt than the racism.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8774131.post-30709174217968937482008-01-04T23:19:00.000-05:002008-01-04T23:19:00.000-05:00thanks for sticking up for us out here, larry!thanks for sticking up for us out here, larry!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8774131.post-18151815800693494092008-01-04T17:49:00.000-05:002008-01-04T17:49:00.000-05:00Don't get too far ahead of yourself and declare al...Don't get too far ahead of yourself and declare all racism a thing of the past quite yet. Iowa is a liberal state (indeed, a "blue state") despite it being located "in the middle" of the country. Only in one election since 1984 has Iowa not gone to a Democrat.

Before you declare racism in America dead, let's just see how Obama does in Utah.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
